FROG EYES
Ribbit Ribbit !
FatbikeHero is a performance and visual artist based in Aarhus, who describes his practice on social media as "living bike meme performance and visual artist". His work often explores themes of feminine and male principles, pyramids, and otherworldly concepts using affordable materials like cheap ink on A4 paper.
The ink on paper work titled Frog Eyes (n.d.), presented here, is a testament to the artist's engagement with spontaneous creation, which he notes "took on its own trajectory" during execution. The artwork is an abstracted, monochromatic representation of a corpulent female torso, rendered entirely through a system of concentric, flowing lines. This graphic, almost sculptural approach to two-dimensional space is a hallmark of the artist's individual style, which prioritizes line and form over color.
The composition is dominated by the curvilinear forms of the figure's body, where the intricate line work creates a sense of volume and movement, a study in symmetrical abstraction that echoes early 20th-century modernist principles of form and space. The figure is headless, surmounted by an all-seeing eye housed within a geometric, pyramidal structure, from which rays of light emanate. This juxtaposition of organic, voluptuous form and rigid, occult geometry creates a compelling tension, exploring themes of the body, surveillance, and esoteric symbolism. The style of the work is consistent with the artist's established visual language found in other works such as BOMBOKLAAT.
The artist, born in 1983, uses simple mediums to build a complex, personal world, finding peace in the tactile process of creation outside the constraints of commercial art markets, explicitly stating his art is not for sale
